OK, after a year and half of continuous experience on the Zero Water filter and browsing all replies following my review so far, I think I have a deeper understanding of the "problem" of this product.

I mentioned that the TDS reading of the tap water in the city I was li...

Thank you to the two above commenters. I have a much better understanding but still not quite sure how to get the TDS rating prior to purchasing a new unit.

I have experience with Zero filtering unit which required changing faucet head and using their hose to pitcher.

Seeking larger container to filter NYC tap water, which used to be so good. Suggestions on either testing or best unit?

I think these are the same micro-beads that California's new law bans. I don't trust them.

Sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. ZeroWater filters contain an antibacterial material designed to prohibit the growth of mold within the filter, what you are seeing is more likely carbon from the filter.

Please do give us a call at 800-503-2939, so we can discuss further. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate you taking the time to post your review.

Resolved: Filters are too expensive and does not work | Zerowater review

Bought the Zero Water and started using it in our vacation home where the water was not acceptable as it was high in mineral content and tasted ugly. The filters did work a little on one or two pictures of water. However, just after using the filters twice, the water tasted worse than it did before straight out of the tap. The filters made the water taste somewhat like rotten eggs. Plus the filters are much too expensive for no more filtration they provide before becoming contaminated. wouldn't buy it again and would like my $ back if i knew how to return the entire Zerowater system!
