Bad filter after just 3 weeks

After just 3 weeks of using the 40 cup system my filter needed to be replaced as i noticed a sour lemon taste. Absolute *** Zerowater makers! Thanks for taking all of these folks money too. Must be nice to be a crook and rip people off. To anyone who is thinking about buying this stay far away from it. What a damn joke!

Zero chance I’ll buy replacement filters

$40 at Walmart got me a week and a half of 000 TDS. After a week I noticed a strange acidic diluted lemon juice flavor pretty nasty and undrinkable. A few days later I checked the TDS of the filtered water and it was at 10 not zero.

Positive experience

I don't have a single complaint except filters are kind of expensive. We go thru several gallons a day. I just tested it. I put a label on the top when I change it. Its been 2 months since I changed it and just now got to 6. I love it. I have bought others and they aren't nearly as good. Thank you so much Karen Nugent kmsnugent17@***.com

Burp the pitcher with filter and water in it. Move side to side until an air bubble passes up through the water.

Experiment with tipping the pitcher while filling reserve with water. With practice it's easy and no problem. The Zerowater filter works great for me. My mourning coffee is much better tasting and I think the purity of of the water just on a everyday use is much better than even high grade tap water or bottle water.

Tried all the others, this is the best. The only thing equal or better is Artesian Well water from one of the upper Midwest states.

Not really happy with the new unit ...

The first thing was that the valve to fill glasses and such started breaking. When they came on the market they bragged how much superior they were to others, and did this innocuous test against Brita and won ... but when I tested my Brita unit before discarding it USING THE ZEROWATER TESTER, the unit had been in use continually for three months and only showed 006 on the Zerowater meter. I am trying to find a way to buy that broken part and am getting nothing but a boatload of *** ads trying to get me to buy more. I will probably go back to Brita if I can't find a valve to replace the breaking one. Matter of fact, even if I do find a valve, I just might go back to Brita because the filters last longer and the claim that we need to be able to drink 'absolutely pure' water ... Bosh!

User's recommendation: If you already have a Brita, don't bother. The difference is not that remarkable or useful.

Acidic as ***

Alrighty here we go: So I got my zero water filtration system a year ago after seeing the guys presentation about how healthy it is Because it eliminates all the TDS and yada yada yada. One of my best friends purchased a Kangen water system. Which cost like 4,000 dollars. Out of the blue he wanted to come over and just test the ph of the zero water. And what we just discovered has completely blown my mind! The Kangen system he has can produce pretty much whatever ph water you want, from 2.5 ph to 9.5. Came with ph strips and drops and a color schemes measuring chart so that you can see the ph levels of each level of water. He brought all that over. He brought 9.5, 6.0, and 2.5 and brought the drops over as well. We tested each of the waters he brought and all matched the color that it was supposed to be... the 2.5 is very acidic of course and its color was like *** in the morning after adding the drops. There was one more color passed the 2.5 and it was a very burnt orange color. The 2.5 was the next color up from that. When we tested the ZeroWater....its color matched the most acidic color on the chart. And I even changed the my zero water filter 3 days prior to this so it was in very good standing and had plenty of cycles ran through it because I mainly drink water all day long anyway. What we seen, Ill never be able to forget. I dont know how and I dont know why, but the ZeroWater is more acidic than you could believe. I would have defended the ZeroWater to my last breath if anyone tried to tell me it wasnt good. So it took our little experiment and seeing the results for myself to change my mind on it. Im throwing my ZeroWater in the trash and I will be purchasing the Kangen water system. Yeah its expensive but Id rather know Im good to go than to keep pouring that Zero *** down my throat thinking everything is ok. For all you fact checkers out there, if you know why this happened I would love to hear it. Whats crazy is that I tested the TDS in the 9.5 water and it read 117. So obviously not all TDS in water is bad for you. Im still shocked at what we found with this, Im not sure Ill ever get over it lol may need therapy LOL but there ya go. And if you dont believe me, go get ya some ph drops and drop it in your ZeroWater and see what you find out. The guys at ZeroWater didnt put anymore thought into anything after the fact of taking away all the TDS. Anyways, I just wanted to leave this little review so that everyone else who reads these reviews could get an idea of what theyre about to waste money on. Even the Tap water out of my sink wasnt near as acidic as the filtered water from the ZeroWater. It doesnt make sense, not in the least, but the proof is in the water. Do your own research on the matter....youll be as shocked as I still am right now!

User's recommendation: DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! And see for yourself!

Zerowater - Faulty Handle on ZP-006
I picked up my full pitcher of water out of the refrigerator and the handle broke off in my hand which went all over my kitchen rug. The handle is not strong enough to hold a pitcher of water and is an accident waiting to happen. Thank you in advance for your concern, Ron Tufts 861 Cimarron Trail Hawkins, Texas 75765

Water went bad taste like

Update by user Oct 26, 2020

Well on October 25th the filter was showing at 50. Now October 26 it is showing 14.

I just put this new one in on October 16. At around $13 a filter (or more) this is expensive. I and my cat is using it.

I made soup with it. They either need to make it so it lasts longer, or bring the price down.

Update by user Oct 16, 2020

I complained to zero water, they sent me a new filter. They explained that since I am in an area that the water is higer TDS level my filter will fail sooner then other areas around the USA.

Well my area is around 350 TDS. I got the new filter on September 26 and now it is October 15th and the filter went to 90. I tried to wait, as these filters are like over $12 each at Walmart.

Anyways that is only 3 weeks. If you live in Nevada, Arizona, California, Texas, North Dakota, or Indiana, be prepared to buy more filters, if this is your only way of filtering your water.

Update by user Sep 27, 2020

September 27 the next day, I noticed if I use valve, there will be minor leakage. I have to start play with the valve to make it stop.

My engineer boyfriend explained to me today that this type of valve flat surface valve, which is less costly, is similar to the old water coolers valves that had a drip trough under it. He said the valve will possibly seat in. He said there is a good chance most of these valves Zero Water is using on their product, will also periodically leak.

Zero water really should consider lever action valve, as it will avoid returns and angry customers. I would be willing to pay a couple of dollars more, to have a valve that is headache free and does not leak.

Update by user Sep 26, 2020

I went back to Walmart to get another Zero Water devise to replace the bad I got on September 11. This was on September 26.

I filedl it with water, this time this devise on the valve was leaking. Frustrating!!! My boyfriend who is an engineer said the valve action was sticking and incorrect. He worked on it and seemed to free up and now it is not leaking.

He said that Zero Water is using a flat surface valve when they should be using a slightly radius surface. He said radius seals better.

Less chance of failure. All of this takes time. I wish Zero Water be more careful, in the quality of the product, and their filters not giving out bad water and lasting the time they quoted (3 to 5 months).

I originally bought Zero Water on September 11, 2020 from Walmart. I was happy, the water tasted great and it showed zero. Then a week later, it would not flow down the filter. I took it out and put it back it. Then it started to work. I noticed the water was showing on the TDS number 2. I let that go. But today September 25th 2 weeks later, this filter tasted like nasty lemon juice, and the TDS is reading over 200!! Very disappointed. I do not care how dirty my city water is (350) according to Zero water the filter should last 3 to 5 months not 2 weeks. I tried calling customer service on a Friday, but they are not open till Monday.

User's recommendation: Hold on to your receipt, and the box just in case you want to bring it back. If this item goes bad, do not drink it or give it to your animals until you fix the problem.

My zero water tastes like it has lemon in it.

The reading on the stick still is at zero however, the last filter I used I changed because the water tasted acidy-sweet as if lemon had been added to it. I changed the filter and it went away. This new filter has been in only two weeks and the acidy tast is back. What is this and how can I resolve this issue. The filters are expensive and I don't want to change them this often.

User's recommendation: Test your tap water first. If the reading is excessive, more frequent filter changes will be required.be.

Sick from filter

Do We have had our zero water filter for under three weeks and I noticed it has a weird taste today. It was almost lemon like, at first I thought it may be a glass that was dirty, but it wasnt any of our glasses. I didnt notice the issue at first because I was using the water to take supplements for extra hydration that are flavored and probably drank 2-3 glasses of water with this terrible taste unknowingly. I am so sick, my stomach is in knots. I thought that the filter may be the culprit and all the reviews here match my experience exactly. There is something very wrong with this filter!!

User's recommendation: Do not buy!! It will make you sick!

Resolved: Update on issue

Update by user Oct 11, 2020

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product replacement.

It appears we received a faulty filter the purchase of a new pitcher. ZeroWater contacted us and agreed that it must be a defective filter and actually sent us 2 new ones to which we have had ( no pun intended) zero problems since. Good customer care goes a long way these days so they have my appreciation and faith in them to know they stand behind their products.

User's recommendation: It’s a very good product backed by a great company.

To give my experience

I used Zero water all throughout the North East. In PA the measurements of solids was nearly 400. After filtering this water it tasted like natural spring water from the mountains of Virginia. Yes I drank from the creek growing up. The only bad thing I have noticed is the filter gets clogged. I have started taking it off and shaking it upside down. The filter is only 2 weeks old. I will see if this works.

User's recommendation: Worth the money I live by this filtering water.
