I paid $39 plus tax for my 23 cup Zero Water unit at Target. The water tasted great for 9 days, then very acidic (sour).

My 2 year old cried and spit it out...pretty nasty stuff. I figured I just got a bad filter, so I went back to Target and bought a 2 pack of new filters for $36 plus tax. The new filter lasted 10 days, consuming about 1 gallon per day. So for $80 I got 19 gallons of drinking water; that's about $4.20 per gallon.

That's more than I currently pay for gasoline at the filling station. I am returning the piece of junk today.

If you're thinking of buying this item, don't waste your time and money. It's just another info-mercial hyped-up piece of ***.

I have been using the zero water systems for years. Best water filtration I've seen (water purification specialist for 5 years).

The TDS (Total dissolved solids) built up in the filter (stopped from entering water).

Your cities current water filtration regulation for rural areas will determine the life time of the filter. If the TDS before filtration is around 500 you'll get a few months out of it if you drink about 64 oz a day.

Frederic,

The lifetime of your filter depends highly on the total dissolved solids in your regular water.

I have had my zero water for around 2 months and what I do in order to save on costs is fill the container with already filtered water!

When I tested my tap water, it read a WHOPPING (423), and after my fridge filter (356)... at those numbers my filter would be sure to last me less than 2 weeks!

I first bought Primo Water from my HEB (Texas)and tested that water out. (016)

At this rate I was sure to make my filter last well over 40 gallons! Compared to the less than 8 gallons I was assured with my tap water.

I then went to a 1.25/5 gallon filtration station at my local gas station to refill the water I was using for my zero water, and after I tested that water out, it read an amazing (003)

At this rate, who knows how long my filter is going to last!

:grin

My advice would be to buy a 5 gallon container and just refill it at a local filtration system for 1.25$/5gallons!
